We are sad to announce the passing of Vice-President and former Ibis member John Brumwell on Saturday 28 April, at the age of 83. John joined the committee of Ibis FC in 1972 as Match Secretary, and position he would hold for over two decades. In 1978 he joined the League Management Committee, becoming Treasurer in 1988. He held that role for seventeen years, standing down in 2005, at which point he became a Vice-President. John was very much an officer in the traditional mould, reliable and consistent and the backbone of his club and the League for many years.
We are very grateful to John for his efforts down the years, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
We await details of John's funeral, which will be released on this page in due course.
Ibis Eagles Football Club becomes the latest name on the list of SAL clubs following a pre-season merger between Ibis and BB Eagles. The new club will play at the BB Eagles grounds at the Riverside Drive Sports Club and GSK Sports Ground in Hounslow.
Both clubs have a long history with the league dating back to the 1920s and share a financial heritage. Ibis was originally the sports club of the Prudential Insurance company while BB Eagles was formerly the Barclays Bank Sport Club.
Both have faced an uphill task to keep playing following the split with their respective parent companies but the new club is hopefully that a joint effort will bring them success in their quest to grow the club locally, not to mention bring home silverware.
We with them all the very best for the future.
