It is with great sadness that we report the peaceful passing in hospital of R. I. “Dickie” Rundle during the afternoon of Saturday 17 February. Dickie celebrated his 90th birthday last October but since then his health had gradually deteriorated.
Dickie was the Honorary Secretary of Old Stationers FC from 1956 to 1960. In 1960 he joined the League Management Committee. From 1965 to 1967 he was one of the SAL Representatives to the AFA. For twenty seasons from 1967 to 1986 he held the office of Vice-Chairman of the SAL Committee. In 1987 Dickie was elected a Vice-President of the SAL. He is a recipient of the F.A. Commemorative Medallion Award recognising 50 years’ service to the game.
Dickie was also much loved and highly regarded playing member of Alexandra Park Cricket Club. He particularly enjoyed the Club’s annual tour to Kent each August, both as player and in later years as, along with his wife Barbara, an enthusiastic supporter. Dickie was elected a Vice-President of The AP Club in 1967 and an Honorary Life Member in 2002 in recognition of his outstanding service.
Dickie’s funeral service will take place at 1.20 p.m. on Tuesday 6 March at Worthing Crematorium.
Many thanks to Chris Wilson for the above words
