As you may be aware one of our member clubs, Old Salesians, were evicted from their home ground of many years recently by a company wishing to build on the four grass pitches at their long-standing ground at Old Schools Lane, Ewell.
The original planning application was defeated but, like all these things, it has raised its ugly head again and I am appealing to all AFA clubs to assist Salesians in this matter by objecting to the new application online.
If you would like to support Salesians please follow these instructions but bear in mind it has to be done by THURSDAY 8 OCTOBER at the latest:
1. Please enter a comment on the E&EBC planning applications site at:
http://eplanning.epsom-ewell.gov.uk/online-applications (case number 15/00845/FUL).
The jist of the comment should be along the lines of "I oppose the application on the grounds that the area is a registered strategic open space and the proposals reduce the current number of 4 grass pitches to just one".
2. Sign the petition which can be accessed at: http://www.save-ewell-playing-fields.org.
It is far from certain that the re-application will be rejected, as initially happened in September 2014, so calling upon a broad supporter base will be vital to the cause.
We need to get as many clubs and individuals getting involved as possible.
Many thanks in advance on behalf of Old Salesians Football Club.
