The Southern Amateur League (SAL) organises football for over 200 teams each weekend on Saturdays and Sundays. The top division of the League - Senior Division 1 - is one of the strongest amateur leagues in England with the League representative team winning the FA Inter-League Cup (and subsequently representing England in the UEFA Regions Cup) 2008 and becoming a regular in the quarter- and semi-finals of the competitions since.
But the League doesn't just cater to top level amateur football. Its clubs run as many as 9 teams in 20 divisions, catering for all abilities. This provides a pathway for aspiring referees to work their way up with support from the League.
The League and its clubs strive to for sporting excellence but sportsmanship and hospitality are also priorities. Referees are part of our community and are treated as such. Our clubs and players want referees to be a part of the social make-up, and to enjoy their experience with us.
