We are sad to report the passing of Old Stationers Honorary President, Gordon Rose, (above, back row, far left) on 18 May.
Gordon was had a long, distinguished and influential association with the club as player, chairman and 1st XI manager. Under his leadershing the 1st XI won Senior Division 3 in 1981/82 followed by Senior Division 2 in 1983/84 and in 1988/89 won the AFA Senior Cup for the only time in the club's history, along with the Old Boys Senior Cup and promotion again to Senior Division 1. Gordon will be remembered for his tremendous work behind the scenes during a period when OSFC ran nine teams and for his humour and larger than life personality. He made an impression on all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his family & friends at this sad time. With thanks to the Old Stationers FC Facebook page whence this piece was cribbed and the photograph was taken.
