We are pleased to announce the dates and venues of seven of the League's nine Challenge Cup finals for 2022 with the two Sunday Vets Cup final to be confirmed.
The League extends its thanks to all host clubs for offering their facilities to make these cup finals the special occasions that they are.
We are sad to report the passing of Old Wilsonians Life President, Mike Harris, a stalwart to the club and to AFA football as a whole. During his time with Old Wilsonians Mike was a player, referee, club officer and, in more recent years, archivist and historian.
Club Secretary Jamie Parkinson's obituary on the Old Wilsonians website give a fuller picture of a man who will be missed by all.
Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
For 2019/20 the SAL has introduced Player Forums to allow players to engage with the League on issues which they think are important.
The first batch of Player Forums has been scheduled for September 2019 with four Forums taking place at venues chosen to give access to all players across the SAL area.
Forums will be open meetings where players can raise issues they think are important to ask questions of the League officers present, or make suggestions on how to develop the League.
The four Club Forums coming up are as follows:
Wednesday 4th September, 7:30pm
Old Finchleians Memorial Ground, 12 Southover, Woodside Park N12 7JE
Thursday 5th September, 7:30pm
Actonians Sports Club, Gunnersbury Drive, Ealing W5 4LL
Tuesday 10th September, 7:30pm
Old Wilsonians Sports Ground, Hayes Hill, Hayes BR2 7HN
Tuesday 24th September, 7:30pm
Oakfield Playing Fields, Forest Road, Barkingside IG6 3HD
Ideas from the Forums will guide the League Development & Communications Committee (LDC) in what they look at in the coming season, reporting back to clubs and players at both the Half Year Council and AGM.
Players views and ideas could make a difference, and we would therefore encourage as many players from as many clubs as possible to attend one of the forums and have an input into their League. This follows on from the successful survey of two years ago, which did result in significant changes being made.
We look forward to seeing you at a Club Forum soon!
